EPL Postponed, The Everest Premier League (EPL) T-20 competition has been Posponded as the Coronavirus infection spread worldwide. Organizer EPL Pray has decided to postpone the competition after Corona’s infection spread around the world.
“The coronary virus originating from China has spread globally,” said Aamir Akhtar, managing director of EPL, which had postponed EPL. According to him, the competition was postponed after discussions with Nepal Cricket Association, participating teams, and sponsors. ‘Corona’s horror has now postponed the EPL. The National Sports Council (NSC) has postponed its sports activities until the Coronavirus is infected. NSC also postponed sports activities after the government issued directives not to host public meetings, conferences, and gatherings of people.
Earlier, the EPL was scheduled to be held at Tri.vi Maidan in Kirtipur from March 14 to 28. The competition will be attended by six teams. Lalitpur, Kathmandu Kings XI, Pokhara Rhinos, Chitwan Tigers, Bhairahawa Gladiators, and Biratnagar Warriors.
This time, there are sure to be some foreign players like Chris Gayle, Corey Anderson, Kesarik Williams, Paul Sterling, Upul Tharanga, Dwayne Smith, Kevin O’Brien, Mohammad Shahzad in the EPL.
The National Sports Council (NSC) has decided to suspend all sports activities due to the coronavirus. The emergency meeting, chaired by Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Biswakarma, on Thursday decided to postpone the entire program, including sports competition, to prevent further contamination of the coronavirus that is spreading worldwide.
Chief of the National Sports Council (NSC) Administration Department, Kul Bahadur Thapa, said that NSC had decided to postpone the sports program to minimize the effects and risks of the coronavirus. He said that sports organizations and concerned bodies have been requested to stop the non-started sports competitions and programs.
It is said that the program being carried out will be completed in accordance with the schedule. The sports program had to be postponed until there was another decision as there was a crowd of spectators, NSC said. The meeting, chaired by Minister Biswakarma, also discussed how to minimize the effects and risks of the coronavirus.
